1971 Chevrolet Nova

As I begin this series, a few notes:

*Thanks to all that have left comments and viewed the site.  It is quite encouraging and helpful.

*Please feel free to click on pix as these are only small versions and will enlarge when you click them.

*I am not going to only dedicate this site to cars and the such.  This is simply one idea that I am fleshing out.

*I am hopefully going to get my RSS feed going soon for those who wish to follow this site.  In the meantime,  I plan to update at least every weekend (if I can stay on schedule).

Ok here we go.  We are going to start off the muscle car coverage with a boom….a Nova if you will.  This car is one of the many projects that my dad has in progress.  As you can see it is a 1971 SS (Super Sport) Nova with a 350 motor.  It is currently down due to engine problems that have eluded us as to their nature.  Many theories have been thrown around but nothing has come of the ideas passed.  When push comes to shove, the engine will most likely have to rebuilt or replaced.  The former being the more possible.  This is one of those cars that has changed hands more than a key at a cheap motel.  It first came into our lives through an employee of ours that had just got it and was needing to sell it for money.  My brother, Nathan, showed extreme interest in it.  At the time it was running (not as good as the employee claimed, naturally).  The Nova did however have all of the hardware that he had claimed; racing transmission, 350 engine, aftermarket shifter, and custom graphics down that latter third of the car.  After little haggling and much internal toil on Nathan’s part (and a small loan from Dad), he decided to buy it.  I went with him to get it and followed the directions to a rough part of the county where we could not find the seller.  Instead we found two other good ole boys that were claiming that they had rights to buy the car and telling of what a “power house” it was.  On top of this they began bouncing the car by half jumping on the hood and trunk (if you can figure out why- please let me know).  When we finally did track down someone who seemed to know a little, we found out that this car was being passed around as a means of paying off people’s debts that were owed throughout the area.  We were just next in line at trying to claim or buy it.  After a little research we finally tracked it down to a man who seemed to be the source of the most of the debts and he had actually collected on them through procuring the car.  Nathan spent a couple of hours talking to him and explaining what had happened only to find out that this man was going to give the Nova to someone in his family.  Nate was quite bummed and apparently this man picked up on it.  He then stated that he was quite sick of the whole deal and the car itself.  Stating then that the first person to bring $XXX (number of digits is correct) could have it.  Here in comes the loan from Dad.  Anyway, Nathan gets the car, asks Dad to drive it home, and we get it back only to find out that the engine has suffered significantly between changing hands.  Little to no driving has occurred when it is totally down with two push tubes bent (sigh).  Now Nathan has had to sell it to Dad since he got married and could not do anything with it from the distance he now lives.  Man, reality sucks.  And here we are,  it looks good and will someday be a real good car, whenever we can get to it.

Man you must have some good friends, it really turned out great although you may want to put the original picture with the thumbnail so people could see the before and after. Just a thought though.
