Well, this has been a project that we have been working on for quite some time now. This all started out due to my daughter seeing a $350 playhouse at Wal-Mart. She saw a cool playhouse, I saw $350. Thus I looked around and found that I had much of the lumber that I would need to make her one myself. Like any good project, it started out small and grew. The one she saw was only around 5 ft. tall. This one stands at 7 ft tall to the peak. An idea that I came up with so I could stand up in the thing when she will inevitably want me or my wife to go in there with her. Square windows were dismissed for heart shaped ones in the name of this is a girl’s house. My wife chose the colors along with my daughter (Aww pink in the front yard…really?) You can’t miss it for a mile away. After finishing the project I was quite glad that I chose to do this on my own and not just cheap out and buy one. I know what is in this and how well it is made. A sense of pride has been acquired despite the pink coloring. It was also a good project that me and my wife enjoyed. There are a few little things left to do, but that is later. Rory loves her playhouse and all her cousins (5 in total) that can, love to play in it (even the boys). My dad even got her a swing set to go in front of it. She has already asked me to put a bed in there. I don’t think that is going to happen. All the same, it was a good project and I am glad that it is enjoyed. I will have to admit, however, that the price on the one at Wal-Mart was not as far fetched as what I originally thought. Wood is expensive, and nails, and paint, etc. After figuring it up I easily broke the $350 mark. Still I would not have done it any different upon hindsight.
